Who are we
Welcome to the site of the Tuscan holiday home “Podere Campo alle Serpi”. This large house was originally built as a monastery. During the renovation, the architectural features have been beautifully preserved, making you feel right in old Italy. It is quietly located, yet close to the beaches of the Mediterranean and the famous vineyards of Bolgheri. There is no less than 18 adults. Baby beds and high chairs are also present. All rooms exude the atmosphere of ancient Italy. There is a swimming pool, but the beach is also not far away. Although it is wonderfully quiet here, the town of Cecina is nearby. Within 10 minutes you’ll be in town to do some shopping or stroll around the main market on Tuesday morning. Don’t forget to explore the area, as there are countless mountain villages that are well worth a visit: Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci, Bibbona, Suvereto etc.. You can find more about this on the special page. For the active people there is also a water park in Cecina and near Cecina Nord a climbing forest. You can also just walk and climb nearby. Who are we?
Above you can see the beautiful historic building of Podere Campo alle Serpi. We have had this wonderful building since September 2020 and we and our guests enjoy it immensely. In the meantime, numerous repairs and improvements have been made, such as heat pumps, batteries and air conditioning on the sunny side of the house. There is also a connection point to charge the electric car, various play equipment for children, etc.
We are Rikie and Pedro van der Werf and have been avid visitors to Italy for many years. As of Monday, September 14, 2020, we are the proud owners of this beautiful, typically Italian casa. What immediately appealed to us was the atmosphere that the house exudes. In the early nineties, the house was bought by Hans and Christa Loges after years of vacancy. They renovated it beautifully while retaining the original style elements. This immediately appealed to us when we first visited the house. The house was too big for us alone, but it was certainly possible to rent out the house as a whole or as apartments. Immediately after the purchase, we started working to make the house completely ready for this: repairs, new mattresses, taps, showers, etc. We really enjoy receiving people from all over Europe. We have even welcomed guests from outside Europe. So we don’t have to travel the world, because people come to us from all over the world. Hopefully we can welcome you here one day!
